St George's School has been awarded the Platinum School Games Mark from the Youth Sport Trust, which is the most prestigious award available in recognition of the school's engagement and delivery of Physical Education and competitive sport.
To receive this fantastic award, schools must achieve 5 consecutive years at Gold Level. The school participated in 12 different sports during 2023-24, including: Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor Athletics, Netball, Tennis, Cricket, Rounders, Squash, and Ultimate Frisbee, involving both boys and girls in 165 fixtures and competitive events.
The assessors were particularly impressed with the school's ethos and ambition to provide opportunities for as many students as possible to play and improve in sports - so much so that we have been forwarded as a national case study. In total, 188 students in Year 7-11 represented a school team with A and B teams as well as Inclusive Teams. Additionally, 181 pupils regularly participate in extra-curricular activities.
St. George's School focuses on developing and reflecting six sporting values: Teamwork, Respect, Self-belief, Passion, Honesty, and Determination.
