Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are awarded based on a child’s performance in the entrance exam. They are not means-tested and anyone in the top 10 of the entrance exam list is eligible. Every candidate who sits the entrance exam is automatically entered for an academic scholarship.
Pupils awarded an Academic Scholarship are expected to be academic leaders, conducting themselves in a way that not only sets high standards, but also fosters a love of learning in their peers. They will be naturally evaluative and instinctively see beyond curricular boundaries.
A Scholarship award is granted at the sole discretion of the School and the pupil who is the subject of this Award is required to work hard, to contribute positively to the life of the School (including supporting Open Days and other School events), to be a credit to the School and to set a good example to other pupils.
Music Scholarships
Music Scholarships provide fee remission for tuition in the instrument where the child is most proficient. They are available for able musicians of all ages. We look for all-round musical talent and potential (not just grades achieved). A Music Scholar typically demonstrates a high level of aptitude in playing at least one instrument, in addition to demonstrating sound academic performance in the entrance exams.
Candidates will be auditioned and asked to perform two instruments; voice will be accepted as an alternative to, or in addition to a second instrument, but not as a principal study. Music Scholars are expected to participate willingly and regularly in the musical life of the school, participate in school ensembles and concerts and, if possible, be a member of the choir. They are also expected to study GCSE music.
If you would like your child to be considered for the Music award, you should complete the relevant Scholarship Application Form which will be sent out on request when you return the exam application form and registration fee.
