St George's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all students and, as everyone who comes into contact with children and young people have a role to play in this, we expect all staff, volunteers and parents to share this commitment. We strive to ensure that consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support our students, families and staff. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All staff are trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding, and students are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect, and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The procedures which we follow have been laid down by the Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership

St George’s is proud to be an Operation Encompass School, which is an early intervention safeguarding partnership supporting children and young people who may have been exposed to domestic abuse. It is a system which provides early notification to key adults within a school should concerns arise. In response to this notification, schools are able to ensure appropriate support is available for the child.
