Design Technology
Curriculum
Key Stage 3
Students work on a rotational basis at Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and 8) with Food Technology, Photography and ICT.
This gives the students 8 weeks in each subject.
At the end of Year 8, students can choose to carry on with Design Technology as a GCSE option.
Key Stage 4
Key Stage 4 runs through Years 9, 10 and 11.
GCSE students study from the AQA GCSE 8552 Specification.
Subject Specific Equipment
A scientific calculator, we recommend the Casio FX-83 or Casio FX-85. As this is the one that students are taught to use for GCSE Maths.
Students may wish to purchase Art supplies to support their design skills, however this is not a requirement.
Facilities
The department includes a Practical workshop with a variety of tools, CAD suite with 16 computers, Graphics Classroom with two 3D printers.
