Curriculum
Pre-Prep Curriculum (3 - 5 Years Old)
Our Pre-Prep includes both our Pre-School and Reception Classes. Pre-Prep will ignite your child’s imagination and build their confidence. The children will foster friendships and develop a joy of learning preparing them for their life at school.
The classrooms have been specially set out to create a stimulating, warm and nurturing environment which incorporates all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Children develop into resilient and inquisitive students, who show a genuine love of learning.
An open, friendly atmosphere and a close partnership with parents ensure children begin their educational experience feeling nurtured and supported through encouragement, reward and celebration.
The EYFS curriculum is tailored to cater for each individual child’s needs; ensuring that children are making continuous progress. It incorporates early literacy and numeracy skills, as well as play-based inquiry and problem solving. Establishing good learning behaviours and social skills is essential.
We offer the 15 and 30 hour funded place to all eligible 3-4 year olds. These are met within the day and the school day runs from 8.30am to 3.20pm. Before and After school provision is available. Please contact the school for further details.
Prep School Curriculum (5 – 11 Years Old)
We offer a broad and rich learning experience that is delivered through a dynamic, thematic curriculum with an international flavour based on the content of the National Curriculum. English and Maths form a daily core component. Science, Humanities, Art and Design Technology come to life as the children explore, discover and create through carefully planned units of work. We change themes regularly and include projects in our learning calendar to keep your child highly engaged and active in the learning process.
Pupils flourish in the rigour of academic studies, but also thrive in the diversity of our enriched curriculum.
At St George’s, we are ambitious on behalf of every one of our pupils as unique individuals, and we aim to support their development into well-rounded learners who are fully equipped with the flexibility, resilience and resourcefulness to embrace whatever lies ahead in the rapidly changing world. We have designed our curriculum to capture the fun, inquisitiveness and creativity that we believe should lie at the very core of teaching and learning.
Underpinning every aspect of our curriculum is a focus on developing the skills necessary for learning: resilience, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, organisation and independence. We aim to ignite children’s imaginations while simultaneously equipping them with the skills and knowledge they will need.
By the time children reach the end of Prep School the ethos and values of St George's are very well-established and provide the foundation for children to become confident contributors to the senior schools they go onto, as well as outstanding role models within the school and beyond.
