Extra Curricular
St George’s School provides a rich and diverse range of co-curricular activities, enabling pupils to explore their potential and find interests in areas new to them. In our most recent ISI Inspection, the St George’s co-curricular programme was rated as “excellent”.
The staff at St George’s firmly believe that educating young people is not just about inspiring pupils academically, but also giving them a really broad range of opportunities. There are over 40 weekly clubs or activities that pupils can attend during lunch or after school. The provision for sport, music and drama is excellent and many pupils participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Cyber Centurions Award, as well as an exciting variety of outdoor pursuits. The School also hosts the Birmingham Schools’ Concert Band.
All students are encouraged to participate in a wide a range of co-curricular activities to discover new talents, improve existing skills, encourage commitment and work as part of a team; skills that will serve our students for life. We want them to find activities and hobbies that they enjoy, which will take them past school and often become lifelong interests. Unlike other schools where 10% of students lead on 90% of activities, we actively seek to provide opportunities that will allow all students to be successful and shine.
In addition, academic societies, intra-school sports teams, departmental trips and activities that complement the curriculum, all help students demonstrate a passion for their subjects outside the classroom, which is invaluable for students completing university applications.
